Showed My Game at Tokyo Gameshow 2024!

I exhibited my game at, you know, Tokyo Gameshow 2024 on September 26 – 29! I came as a guest last year but who expected I would be an exhibitor this year?

The busiest time of my life

This time around, I made a big change that changes the very foundation of gameplay in response to user feedback at BitSummit on July and mentoring by iGi, Indie Game Incubator I joined this April. This September can definitely called the busiest time of my life!

Changes

  1. Made it literal Metroidvania, the map is no longer straight like Mario Bros, but complicated like a maze
  2. Made it possible to view the map
  3. Improved storytelling.
  4. Added new levels, Hotel Lobby, Atrium and Monorail Station
  5. Added new boss “Mecha Sawshark”

Honestly, Metroidvania has a disadvantage at game showcases because players don’t have much time to explore the entire map. But almost everybody has recognized it as Platformer, not Metroidvania. I had to solve that problem,

Plus, I did 3 (storyline) to make it so that you can feel like enjoying summer break.

User responses

Many people came to my booth regardless their identities (gender, age, language, etc.) One of the member of iGi told me “Compared to my booth, various people came to yours!”.

I received both feedbacks about the difficulty “It was pretty easy” “It was pretty hard”. It can prove how various people came.

This sign “Light-Hearted Metroidvania” helped me a lot as well. It attracted and made some people say “Wow, Metroidvania?”

They said “I like it’s set in a resort” “The idea of light-hearted Metroidvania is interesting”

I’m happy.
